Getting Started
You may find these articles from my Into iSpace site useful for choosing a name for your site, and finding a good photo to use in the banner for your site (and on your card).
I also recommend reading Seth Godin's excellent guide to creating an effective website: KnockKnock (PDF, 6.4 MB). This will help you to think through what it is that you want your site to achieve.

Search Engine Optimisation

Using Facebook
Another excellent way to drive traffic to your site is to also set up a Facebook Fan Page for your site. When people become Fans of your Facebook Page then their friends see this as well, which can alert them to your site. Put your site address onto your Facebook Page and ask people to write recommendations about your service on the page's Wall.
