Why simple?
If you've seen my television adverts for iSpace Sites (just kidding!) you'll have seen that I constantly use the word simple. Why?
Well most website development is complex and costly. You will spend days with a designer getting everything 'just right,' because it will be hard to change later. Weeks later the designer will deliver a stunning site with lots of flashy effects - and a large bill.
Here are seven reasons why simple is better:
Here are seven reasons why simple is better:
- simple loads fast. Complex sites take forever to appear.
- simple is easy to understand and navigate. Complex sites often overwhelm people with all their effects and can be hard to navigate. People come to your site to find information quickly and easily.
- simple plays everywhere - on all computers and on cellphones including the iPhone and also the new iPad. Complex sites often won't work in older browsers, and if they use Javascript effects (like drop-down menus) they won't work on many cellphones. Plus if they use Flash technology they definitely won't work on iPhones or iPads...
- simple gets indexed by Google. If your site's information is locked up in a Flash program, it can be very hard for Google to find it and index it - making it harder for people to find things on your site.
- simple is flexible. A website should be a living thing, constantly changing to reflect the changes in your business - new products and offers, news about the company, customer feedback, useful information, ... Complex sites are hard to change and are soon out of date. You should be able to easily make changes to your site within minutes to keep it up to date.
- simple can start small and grow. When you create a complex website you must work out everything at the beginning - which is overwhelming and can deter you from starting. With a simple website you can get started now with a few pages (this site started with three pages in 2008) and grow your site slowly.
- simple is independent. Many people discover later when they need to change their complex site that their original designer is no longer available and no one else understands how they developed their site - so they need to start all over again. Simple sites can be understood and changed by anyone and iSpace sites come with complete documentation to help anyone else make any changes.
- Bonus: simple is quick and affordable. Complex sites take weeks to develop and cost thousands of rands. iSpace Sites can give you a site in days for R900.
